Tourism Malaysia Strengthens Outreach in Gujarat with Visit Malaysia 2026 Roadshow
Tourism Malaysia Mumbai has reaffirmed its commitment to the Indian market through the successful organization of the Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) Roadshow in Rajkot and Vadodara from 19 to 21 May 2026. The initiative forms part of Tourism Malaysia’s strategic efforts to deepen engagement with India’s travel trade community while promoting Malaysia’s diverse tourism products, unique cultural experiences, and exciting attractions under the ongoing Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign.
The roadshow was led by Ms. Haryanty Abu Bakar, Director of Tourism Malaysia Mumbai, accompanied by a delegation of 13 Malaysian tourism stakeholders. The delegation included representatives from travel agencies, airlines, tourism boards, and tourism product operators, all showcasing a wide range of travel experiences available across Malaysia.
The event served as a valuable platform for travel agents, tour operators, and industry professionals from Gujarat to connect directly with Malaysian suppliers, fostering stronger business relationships and opening avenues for new partnerships. Through business networking sessions and destination presentations, participants gained first-hand insights into Malaysia’s latest tourism offerings, enabling them to create attractive travel packages tailored to the preferences of Indian travellers.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Haryanty Abu Bakar emphasized the importance of the Indian market and Gujarat’s growing contribution to outbound tourism. She noted that India remains one of Malaysia’s most significant source markets, while Gujarat continues to demonstrate strong potential for international leisure and business travel. The roadshow, she said, aims to strengthen collaboration with travel trade partners in emerging Tier-II cities such as Rajkot and Vadodara while creating greater awareness about the experiences available under the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign.
Malaysia’s appeal to Indian travellers is further supported by excellent air connectivity. Airlines including Malaysia Airlines, AirAsia, Batik Air, and IndiGo currently operate direct services from 16 Indian cities such as Mumbai, New Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Amritsar, and Thiruvananthapuram. Collectively, the India–Malaysia sector offers more than 237 weekly direct flights, ensuring convenient access and seamless travel between the two countries.
For travellers from Gujarat, connectivity remains particularly strong, with 12 weekly direct flights between Ahmedabad and Kuala Lumpur operated by Malaysia Airlines and AirAsia, making Malaysia an easily accessible destination for leisure, family holidays, MICE travel, and special interest tourism.
Tourism Malaysia remains dedicated to working closely with travel trade partners, airlines, media, and tourism stakeholders across India to enhance destination awareness, strengthen market presence, and drive visitor arrivals in support of the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign.
