Gateway of India all lit up for Light and Sound Show

Hon. Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra Shri Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated the Multimedia Light & Sound Show at Gateway of India. 

This show was jointly organized by the Department of Tourism of the state government, Union Ministry for Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG) and Indian Oil Corporation limited (IOCL). 

Speaker of the State Legislative Assembly Adv. Rahul Narvekar, Minister for school education Deepak Kesarkar, Member of Parliament Arvind Sawant, Principal Secretary of the Tourism Department Saurabh Vijay, Chairman of Indian Oil Srikanth Madhav Vaidya and Director (Marketing) of Indian Oil V Satish Kumar were among the prominent attendees at inaugural event. 

The narrative of the Multimedia Light & sound at the Iconic Gateway of India broadly covers:
•  The glorious persona of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj
• India’s freedom movement and contribution of Maharashtra in India’s independence.
•  Uprising of Maharashtra and Mumbai. 
•  Glimpses of progressive India
•  Highlighting the PanchPran of Amrit Kaal, as a vision for next 25 years, as laid by the Honorable PM Shri Narendra Modi

Employing innovative projection technology synchronized with intelligent lighting and Laser, this integrated show showcased the story of Maharashtra’s valour and India’s progressions as never seen before. This is one of the first time ever in India, that along with the existing façade, movable props were being used for creating multi-dimensional and multi-layered experience. 

This is also a unique permanent installation that shall be using the additional rolled-in screens for the projection along with the façade. All three arches of the Gateway of India will have these rolled in screens positioned just before the start of the show. Apart from the daily shows in all three languages -Marathi, Hindi & English, there is provision of multilingual translation in Japanese, German, French, German and Russian through headsets device as well. 

Speaking of the occasion, Dr. B. N. Patil, Director, DoT said that “It’s a proud moment for us at the Directorate of Tourism (Maharashtra) for having created a marquee event to celebrate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav in Mumbai. The mesmerizing light & sound show will also become a must-visit attraction for most tourists’ & visitors coming into Mumbai”.

Mr. Shrikant Madhav Vaidya, Chairman, IndianOil, said, “IndianOil is connected with each & every Indian. During the Amrit Mahotsav celebrations in the country, it is a matter of pride for IndianOil to be associated with this unique outreach programme at Gateway of India.
