‘The Desert’s Grand Stage’ comes alive once again as the Liwa International Festival returns from 12 December 2025 to 3 January 2026, bringing 23 days of culture, motorsports, music, and family entertainment to the golden dunes of the Al Dhafra region.

Set against the awe-inspiring 300-metre Tal Moreeb, the tallest dune in the UAE, this iconic festival has become one of the nation’s most eagerly awaited annual celebrations. Since its inception in 2001, the Liwa International Festival has evolved into Abu Dhabi’s ultimate winter experience—where heritage meets high-octane adventure, and where families and friends gather to create unforgettable memories.

This year’s edition opens with a spectacular performance by Forsan Al Emarat, the aerobatics team of the UAE Air Force, followed by a dazzling fireworks display lighting up the vast desert sky.

Motorsports & Adventure Take Centre Stage

Every winter, Liwa transforms into the region’s motorsport capital, and the 2025–2026 edition promises an even bigger adrenaline rush.
The action begins with Freestyle Drift on 12–13 and 22–23 December, followed by the Spartan Race Liwa on 13 December and Bike Drag Racing on 14 December. Falconry competitions will take place from 15–17 December, showcasing traditional skills and precision.

Car Stunt Championship on 19–20 December
Mud Fest on 19–20 December
Liwa Running Challenge on 20 December
Liwa Cycling Race and Liwa UTV on 21 December
Pigeon Hunt Competition on 23–24 December
Liwa Burnout Championship on 25 December

On 26 and 27 December, the desert roars to life with Liwa Drift, Monster Jam, and the Tal Moreeb Running Challenge, while the Liwa Padel Championship (26–28 December) and the Liwa Cycling Challenge (27 December) keep the competitive spirit strong. The Sand Wrestling Championship takes place on 26–27 December, followed by another thrilling round of the Car Stunt Championship on 28–29 December.

The excitement continues with the Electronic Freestyle Championship on 30 December and the Tal Moreeb Car Championship from 31 December to 3 January.
Supporting events include weekend Football, Padel, and Boxing (15–21 December), along with the Jetour Travel Conference from 19–21 December.

Fireworks will illuminate the desert during the opening ceremony, every weekend, on New Year’s Eve, and on the grand finale.

Ring in 2026 in unforgettable style at Liwa. On 31 December, the Tal Moreeb Car Championship kicks off its three-day run, setting the stage for an electrifying New Year celebration. Visitors can enjoy a special concert followed by a spectacular fireworks show illuminating the vast Liwa desert.
