Skål International India Congress 2025 Marks Historic Milestone in Mumbai

The Skål International India National Congress 2025 concluded in grand style at the iconic Sahara Star, Mumbai, setting new benchmarks for the global Skål movement. Held from September 12–14, the three-day mega gathering saw record-breaking participation with over 200 delegates from India and overseas – all paying full congress fees, underscoring the event’s credibility and prestige.

The congress opened with glamour as personalities like Maneka Gandhi, Shashi Tharoor, Pooja Bedi, Subhash Ghai, and Zayed Khan graced the stage. At its core was the Annual General Meeting, where President Sanjeev Mehra and Treasurer Monik Dharamshi presented transparent reports, unveiling Vision 2025–2030 to strengthen Skål’s footprint in India and globally.

A major highlight was the launch of the Skål International Indian Excellence Awards 2025, recognising outstanding contributions in club performance, innovation, sustainability, and young leadership. Winners included Skål Chennai (Best Performing Club), Skål Goa (Most Active Club), Skål Bangalore (Fastest Growing Club), and others, with special honours for global outreach and CSR.

India also reaffirmed its leadership, emerging as the largest Skål country in the world, surpassing Skål USA. Four Indian clubs now rank among the global top ten. With plans to establish clubs in every state and Union Territory, India is positioning itself as the driving force in Asia and a global hub of tourism networking.

The congress also emphasised sustainability, adopting eco-friendly practices like avoiding single-use plastics and minimising waste, aligning with UNWTO’s ethos. Networking sessions, business exchanges, and cultural experiences reflected the Skål spirit of “Doing Business Among Friends.”

Looking ahead, finalists for the 2026 National Congress – Jaipur, Coimbatore, and Jammu & Kashmir – were announced, while India reaffirmed its ambition to host both the Skål World Congress and Asia Congress in coming years.

“India is now firmly at the centre of global Skål activity,” said Shekhar Divadkar, President, Skål International Asia. With its blend of friendship, business, and sustainability, the Mumbai congress set a new benchmark for Skål worldwide.
