WTM Spotlight India to Position India as a Global Travel Marketplace
RX India officially unveiled WTM Spotlight India at an exclusive Leadership Gala, marking an important milestone ahead of the inaugural edition of the global travel trade event, scheduled for 2–4 March 2027 at Yashobhoomi, New Delhi.
The Leadership Gala in Mumbai brought together senior government officials, travel industry leaders, hospitality partners, international travel brands, tourism boards, associations, buyers and media, reflecting India's growing significance in the global tourism economy.
The latest addition to RX’s internationally recognised World Travel Market (WTM) portfolio, WTM Spotlight India is envisioned as a high-value business marketplace connecting global travel suppliers with India’s rapidly expanding inbound and outbound travel sectors. The platform will focus on business meetings, destination promotion, knowledge exchange and long-term partnerships across the tourism ecosystem.
Speaking on the vision for the event, Mr. Umang Gupta, Country Head, RX India, said that over the three days, WTM India would aim to establish itself as a marketplace for India’s travel and tourism industry, covering both inbound and outbound opportunities.“WTM will ensure that we unlock the true potential of India’s travel and tourism industry to the world. We bring the world to India and we take India to the world,” Gupta said.
The Leadership Gala was graced by Shri Neelesh R. Gatne, Managing Director, Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC), as the Chief Guest. His presence underlined the importance of strengthening Maharashtra and India’s position within the global travel and tourism marketplace. Gatne’s participation also reflected the growing collaboration between tourism authorities and the international travel trade in creating new opportunities for destination promotion, business exchange and sustainable tourism growth.
With preparations underway for its 2027 debut, RX India is engaging with tourism boards, destinations, travel companies and industry stakeholders to build WTM Spotlight India as a premier global platform for business, collaboration and tourism growth.
The event is expected to further strengthen India’s position as a key international travel marketplace while creating new opportunities for global destinations and Indian travel businesses.
