The 67th TAAI Convention in Srilanka

India remains one of the leading
source markets for tourism in Srilanka

With all of its resources and dedication, TAAI demonstrated its partnership with the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) and the Sri Lankan Association of Inbound Tour Operators (SLAITO) in order to resurrect tourism in our neighboring island nation, SRI LANKA. The grand opening ceremony of the 67th TAAI Convention took place at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) in the Sri Lankan capital, on July 6.  

His excellency the President of Democratic Republic of Sri Lanka Mr. Ranil Wickremesinghe was the chief guest and Hon. Harin Fernando, Minister of Tourism and Lands graced the event as the guest of honour. The inaugural ceremony was organised by Sri Lanka Tourism and the who’s who from the Sri Lankan Travel Industry and Inidan delegates attended the event. Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka H.E Gopal Baglay also graced the events with his presence. The hues of the country were depicted in the  colourful cultural performances by Channa Wijewardena Dance Troupe.

The convention was well-attended by 573 delegates from India, including professionals from the travel and hospitality sectors, travel agencies, and the media. The networking session at Cinnamon Grand Hotel, on July 7th was very engaging and instructive. The second half comprised a B2B session with more than 200 local tourism sector stakeholders. Later that night, a gala dinner was hosted at Cinnamon Grand Hotel. The Shangri-La Hotel hosted networking and business sessions on July 8th, which was the third day of the convention. The Gala Dinner & Finale was held in Heritance Negombo along with entertainment and fireworks.
